In my research of the Jamestown City directory, I discovered that there were various businesses, including a leather goods and fruit market in the building, while upstairs there were several apartments. During this time, the building was known as "The Frederick". Around 1920, Nelson's Department store occupied the building. In addition, one of the first Ekerd's drug stores occupied part of the downstairs.
